Episode 470 - Ron White

One of the comics Marc has always wanted on WTF is Ron White. He gets his chance in the garage when Ron sits down to talk about his early life in the military, his hazy days breaking into the business, his eventual escape to Mexico and his involvement from start to finish of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which made him one of the biggest stars in comedy. This episode is sponsored by Comedy Central, Pro Flowers and Squarespace.

Is any comedian less “blue collar” than the great Ron White?

James Jewell February 14, 2014 at 10:08 am

Does Moon know what it’s like to date a classic borderline male? This isn’t going to end well.

Started skeptical, trusted Marc, Ron gained a fan.

Due to the Cable Guy character than Dan Whitney plays I had steered clear of Ron (like, probably, many here). Sounds like Ron is well aware of this and it’s too bad he doesn’t steer towards us (and away from the jit are done crowd) with a project or concertedly. Guess he doesn’t care if we find him or not; which is, of course, kewl. Ron is kewl. Will see him next time he comes.

Good stuff.

M, are you feeling out potential script ideas during your intro? I won’t tell.

Ron brought it and showed the fuck up. Hilarious podcast, as well as entertaining and tore off so many curtains not torn off before in this podcast. Very interesting

There will always be a Moon over Maron.

James Jewell February 15, 2014 at 12:51 pm

Is it just me or is anyone else stunned that there are only a handful of comments for each Maron show? I believe this show is culturally significant; important. It’s times like these that I realize just how fragmented modern media has become. Is Maron merely the spokesperson for disaffected, Gen X comedy nerds?

I’m not sure the exact truth to this nor do I think I am part of any comedy police; however, while watching old stand up from the 80’s I came across a guy who did the DUI into a lake bit that Ron always does. I’ve always thought he stole the entire bit word for word, but I’m wondering now if Ron went by a different name and that may have been him as a younger man. For years now I’ve always thought he stole most of his bits. I wish I remembered the name of the young comedian who first performed that bit.

Ron White just made me book a Vegas trip….pure gold…..

Tania February 16, 2014 at 3:54 pm

OMG do I love me some Ron White, how fun was this. And I like to hear you giddy Marc; for the record it doesn’t make you any less funny or talented so feel free to stay happy :*

Ron White is great. He really did round out those Blue Collar comedy shows. Ron’s definitely my favorite of those 4 guys, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t laugh at Larry, Jeff, and Bill. They’re not exactly my cup of tea but they definitely know what they’re doing when it comes to comedy.

yay! i’m thrilled you and Moon are having a chance to see what’s real… after the hormones do their stuff.  way to go, entering an adult relationship and all… super impressed with the recent transformation MM!

much love February 17, 2014 at 10:04 pm

Moon sounds perfect for you, Marc. Congratulations.

On the other hand, you look so much like her dad sometimes it’s uncanny—a man you admire and model yourself after, I know. So yeah, I guess there’s that to talk over with the therapist.
