Episode 442 - The Figgs

Mike, Pete and Pete from the rock group The Figgs cram into the garage, instruments in hand, for a little talking and a little jamming. The guys tell Marc what has kept them together for 20 years, how a car commercial gave them a second wind, and why they keep grinding it out when their lives have taken them all in very different directions. Now I have to buy some Figgs vinyl.    Look what you did.  Tubes.    I have too many records as it is.  Do you want some?  Are you looking for anything?  Seriously,  you can have some of these before I get any more.  . . .

I’m reminded of ‘The Fugs’ for some reason.

I hope that no one has a running count of how many times the host and the guests on this show say “got” when they should say “have.”
Sweet jumpin’ christ…
We’re really moving the “stupid Americans” stereotype along.
I just picture Japanese, German, Brazilian, etc. people listening to WTF and saying, “*I* have a better grasp of English than Americans.”

@Michael P. Gowdy - language evolves. Get over it. If someone from 150 years ago heard you speak, he or she would be appalled with the way in which you have garbled the English language.

Liked the tag team interview with the 3 bright blue collar musicians. Did an iTunes buy for the Anthology, just to get a background. Pretty tight group. Then by the end of the show, the story of the “Je t’adore” gig, and I realized that this is one of their “moments in the sun.” Well deserved. Wished the mic setup was better for their performance. Still waiting to hear a bad WTF. Doubt I ever will. Thanks

going out to buy some figgs today!

I’m taking all my old vinyl to the used vinyl store today (autumn cleanup of stuff in the basement for 20 g-d years)  in the hope someone else will give a few of them some 21st century love. Sorry I am not mailing my faves to you marc! especially Downchild blues band “bootleg” (not actually a bootleg, but what a consistent perfect groove!)  Another on this list is Lou Reed’s Rock and Roll Animal which was live during his glam era, and the Intro-Sweet Jane first cut on this album has the best rock guitar duet ever made, with no recycled filler crap, every note perfect and original in the awesome intro half of the song and then a nice version of sweet jane, followed by heroin to make sure that warm happy feeling is tinged with the dark side of things. That is a A-side of a record album that is top ten forever in my home.

I like the music interviews and comedy interviews, movie star interviews are a bit mixed, sometimes amazing, sometimes a bit too navel gazing, but appreciate you’re trying to mix it up with the guest profile. Liked Booker T a lot, the music artist guest list is nice mix of music legends and (for me) lesser known artists.  Listened to Green Onions (all 4 version on my ipod) which, doncha know, was followed by Green River by CCR, which was a group you discussed with Booker T. Seridipity or what?
