Wow. Just, WOW!

Odinaka February 21, 2011 at 5:01 pm

Fucking amazing man! Thanks Marc!

Ziggy February 21, 2011 at 6:50 pm

Great show!

Had never hear of him before but he was hilarious with the impressions. Have to check him out.

excellent interview

Tom February 22, 2011 at 3:38 am

I never thought that I’d hear Carl LaBove on WTF.  I’m glad to see that he was open to do it because it was just an excellent interview.

Joe February 22, 2011 at 4:15 am

I listened to this in two hours of traffic. It was the only thing preventing me from getting out of my car and laying down (lying down?) on the 101.

EBS February 22, 2011 at 7:00 am

omg Marc this is one of the most powerful interviews i’ve ever heard from any medium.

Crate&Trauma February 22, 2011 at 8:03 am

It sounds like things are getting corrected here and that makes me happy.  But did it really ever need to come to this?  That’s a real WTF moment.

Josh February 22, 2011 at 8:48 am

Wow is right. One of your best interviews.

Thanks, Marc. Keep it up.

Joe Tily February 22, 2011 at 8:52 am

“. . .  how do ya get rid of a hex? . . .” Potent stuff Marc - another classic to add to the WTF vault. As soon as i get paid I’m ordering a T-Shirt dude . . . All power to the Maron.

Renaud February 22, 2011 at 12:22 pm

You nailed it again Marc Maron. Do you sometimes consider starting a psychoanalysis practice of some sort? People really do open up when they talk to you, you have that power. Anyway, that was another fascinating chunk of a life story yesterday. Dignified and moving, thanks for that. As soon as I get a decent job, I’m going for the premium subscription my friend.

tina p. February 22, 2011 at 2:09 pm

marc maron,  aside from me, you are the biggest narcissist in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lee Cherolis February 22, 2011 at 7:17 pm

Holy crap. That was truly inspiring! Thank you Marc for having Carl on and thank you Carl for sharing your story.

Mike February 22, 2011 at 9:29 pm

I remember hearing LaBove on Stern years ago and thinking, “what a fucking sad bastard,” mainly because of Howard’s derisive questioning. It’s awesome to hear Marc giving a respectful and honest interview.

ben February 22, 2011 at 10:21 pm

Great interview. The mystique around Sam just grows the more stories are told about him.

Curious, sounds like there was a third person in the garage?

barry Soetero February 22, 2011 at 10:23 pm

Proving once again that WTF is the best show on the net

DupinTM February 22, 2011 at 10:58 pm

On par w/ Steve Pearlman. The only lingering question I have is how that biography of Kinison has lately been touted on some other podcasts. This was such a touching reunion that I wish nothing but the best fer Monsieur Lebove. The creep(ing/y) sentimentality of the Christian Right that they were unwittingly an early part of, and of course backlash against, is stronger than ever nowadays and I’m happy he’s come out to speak his mind. If Carl ever comes to Philly I’ll be there, just send out the word.

Nate February 23, 2011 at 1:59 am

I saw LaBove tell the story of Sam’s death on Pauly Shore’s comedy hour recently. I had no idea that story and his great stand-up set were just the tip of the iceberg though. Once again Marc comes through with the whole story. Well done, sir.

Gloria February 23, 2011 at 2:40 am

Words fail me.  Just amazing, Marc.

spleenal February 23, 2011 at 9:08 am

Brilliant stuff. A wonderful interview. A fantastic story.
A film was mentioned, and it would make a great one.
If the casting was right…

Who would play Marc though?

Humm…...

Luciano February 23, 2011 at 4:05 pm

Amazing, amazing interview. Very touching and sometimes funny. Congrats!

wilberfan February 23, 2011 at 5:05 pm

You can stop now.  We have our “Podcast of the Year” winner.  Our Peabody submission.  This thing kept me awake (and riveted) from 4:00am to 5:30am this morning…  What a story…

exitBxC February 23, 2011 at 5:18 pm

lived up to ALL the hype . . . in my head.

okcalculator February 24, 2011 at 2:15 pm

So good.  Lots of depth, edge, and humor…loved it

LM February 24, 2011 at 7:46 pm

Loved this one. Particularly timely to hear about “boats of safety.” And just… wow. I admire Carl’s attitude.

ApatheticAlto February 24, 2011 at 8:04 pm

It’s a podcast, on an iPod, which is portable.  There is absolutely no reason for me to sit in my car until the end before going inside.  And yet I did.  Bravo.

Joe H. February 27, 2011 at 6:00 am

One beautiful interview Marc…you ar, once again, proving that you are a truly great interviewer. Kudos…I wish I wasn’t so damn poor…I would love to send you some sheckels! One day!

Jeremy February 28, 2011 at 10:54 pm

Jesus, man, I didn’t even know the people involved, and this was heart-wrenching for me. Can’t imagine what it was like for you and Carl to rehash this stuff.

Amazing interview, man.

Duncan March 23, 2011 at 1:52 pm

Carl’s story scared the fucking life out of me. It just didn’t stop hitting me in the face. Listening to this put me through so many states. I wanted to cry and puke at the same.

allecthomas January 28, 2012 at 5:50 am

Finally got around to listening to this ep and it was great! Brendon was really enjoyable to listen to, and had some great stories.
