Sorry to cherry-pick, but:

“I very quickly went out and registered as a conscientious objector… I went to the Post Office to do that.”

This episode brought to you by… :p

Marc, when you described the crowd at The Store during Wednesday I laughed my ass off. I was THERE that night (for the first time in months), but I left before you performed, I guess. Bobby Lee’s comments about it were hilarious: “Worst crowd ever.” “I hate the shit out of this crowd, but I’ll continue…”

I loved your bombing intro story all the more cause I saw Dave Chappelle at Oddfest last Friday night. He said how terrible it felt to get booed by a crowd full of people with alligators on their shirts. He said the crowd in Hartford was awful. His set in Camden was great though, really funny. There’s a good article on backing him up that the Hartford crowd was the problem, not Dave. Poor Dave, everybody always wants to see him melt down. I’m not sure why. He seems like a pretty chill nice guy.

I really liked this episode. I have never listened to Dan’s podcast but I’ve always enjoyed him on Real Time and Colbert Report. Maybe I’ll start listening if I know when Marc will be on too…

I’ve heard of Dan’s column but never read it before, and now I find myself very interested in seeking out more of what he has to say. I don’t know that I’ve ever heard someone speak so honestly and with such empathy regarding the whole fascinating and icky spectrum of sexuality. The way he talks about recognizing bigotry as a sign of someone else’s shortcomings and being able to forgive that, as well as giving license to others to approach taboo topics that they don’t “own” from a cultural standpoint really struck a chord with me as well. Fantastic interview from a great interviewer and subject! Kudos, Mark and Dan!

I really like Dan Savage’s line on Bill Maher about dealing with the Religious Right.  He said,  “I’m always telling people who say two men can’t make a baby, anything is possible for God. I’m going to keep inseminating my husband and keep my fingers crossed.”

Don’t fear losing yourself to meds?
His urge not to give himself to drugs is very natural and healthy, he’s given up alcohol, what’s the point of covering up his problems with more drugs? His cure will be through facing up not running away.
