Episode 420 - Ben Sidran

Marc was not familiar with jazz musician Ben Sidran at first, but after their chat in the garage Marc says this is one of his favorite episodes of WTF. Ben tells Marc about his impressive career, with major chapters involving Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Steve Miller Band and some of the most legendary jazz artists in history. Ben and Marc also find kinship over their shared feelings about self-discovery, the need for acceptance and being addicted to creativity. exuberant cherry busting poster up above….. cool…  [I know i’m posting nonsense, but I need some self-induced vacuous frivolity from time to time].

What a great talk to listen to…makes me feel like you walked up a little alley and found the best restaurant you’ve ever eaten at…a little gem that might have gone undiscovered unless you’re clued in by a friend.  Kudos to his son who recommended the opportunity and GREAT JOB Marc for seeing it through and sharing it around. You often make my day, but this was something special…on my 3rd listen and still getting more than sustenance.

Great interview Marc! As a professional pop/jazz musician for 42 years and an old WTF fan, I find the best shows are where you venture into unknown territory. Very courageous, and you know how to just listen, occasionally coaxing ideas out of the interviewee. Bravo.

Ok, I know no one cares, but, the smart car does surprisingly well in crash tests and gets surprising poor gas mileage.

That was so awesome I’m going to listen to it again.

He’s like the cool dad you never had, Marc.

Ben Sidran!  What a blast from the past. I was a big fan of his in the mid-70s when I went to the University of Minnesota and he played a lot around the Twin Towns.  I moved to Chicago and my musical tastes changed a bit and I stopped following his career.  So nice to catch up with him.  I still have his covers of Sunday Kind of Love and New York State of Mind on my iPod.  I guess I need to track down some more recent stuff.

Am I the only one still getting that annoying glitch noise every couple of seconds throughout the mp3 of the podcast? I saw this issue being mentioned before by a couple of people but it doesn’t seem to have been fixed.
