Episode 395 - Tommy Stinson

The Replacements were a seminal indie rock band of the ‘80s and bassist Tommy Stinson remembers what it was all like. Tommy tells Marc about firing his brother from the band they founded together, working with disparate lead singers, from Paul Westerberg to Axl Rose, and why he’s focusing his current attention on relief efforts in Haiti. Marc, congrats on the marriage proposal and great interview with Tommy.  What model of the Rogue Audio amp are you using?  I’m in the market for a new one for my turntable and wouldn’t mind checking them out.

I just listened to the NPR episode about patent trolls that you urged us to download.
A few multimillionaires want to shake down Carolla, you, etc. because they transferred shit to audio cassette from a computer decades ago. This process is *OBVIOUSLY* equivalent to a podcast, right?
Those motherfuckers are the same sort of Wall Street whores who are destroying this country—evil morons who want something from nothing. They also remind me of LAPD and Burbank pig-fuck-cops who have apparently solved all of L.A.‘s real crime and want to crack down on jaywalking/wallet-raping now.

I remember in my teen years in the 90’s I always thought Bastard of Young and Left oft the Dial were big hits in the 80’s. Amazing they weren’t. Great show. I wonder why it took him months to post it.

TheKid June 09, 2013 at 12:52 am

About Maron’s marriage, it’s the third. How you think it will end? Geez.

Gaia June 09, 2013 at 3:07 am

So happy for you! Teared up. Thank you for the beautiful story. It takes chutzpah to put an engagement ring in a pancake.

Elliot Fryer July 08, 2013 at 12:01 am

This episode introduced me to The Replacements. Beautiful, thank you MM.
