Episode 216 - Bryan Cranston

Instead of making meth in Marc’s garage, Bryan Cranston has a conversation about what led him to the role of Walter White in Breaking Bad. Along the way he almost became a cop, he was briefly wanted for murder, and he went broke making a labor of love. Plus, Bryan teases Marc with some tidbits about the Breaking Bad season finale. The buzzing noise you did is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever heard. Ever.

Justin October 06, 2011 at 10:06 am

Two of my favorite things. Entertainment squared.

Yet another compelling interview. How amazing is Bryan Cranston? I don’t want BB to end EVER but I am really looking forward to the season finale on Sunday. Love the little tease he gave us! I hope you can land an interview with other cast members Dean Norris (Hank) and Giancarlo Esposito (Gus)!

Frank October 06, 2011 at 1:22 pm

I agree with Ben Mackie, awesome sums up this interview. It’s easy to gauge a good interview. The time goes by so fast. It over and you say wow an hour has gone by already?  I’ve always been a fan of Brian Cranston. He is down to earth and you can tell he enjoys life to it’s fullest. He the kind of person you would just have a blast hanging out with.  I was thinking that Marc Maron’s life is kind of a reversal of the breaking bad character.  Maron is the breaking good life story. A bad ass comedian in the trenches who should have burned out into oblivion and is now becoming a successful, decent, relevant, and likeable person. He has a very compelling style and draws out the heart and soul of the people he interviews.

Great show, Marc. You’re on a roll this week. Cranston is a brilliant actor and seems like a great guy. That teaser was killer. Can’t wait to see what happens. Breaking Bad is consistently so freakin’ good, it really just blows my mind.

kevingiampa October 06, 2011 at 4:23 pm

hey, don’t let it go to your head or anything, but you’re really doing great work.  i mean, bryan cranston could do any number of podcasts or interviews, and it simply wouldn’t be as interesting as listening to him on your show.  great stuff, marc.

Buttons!!!! It’s my birthday haha. Well done Maron.

Petro October 06, 2011 at 7:41 pm

Had to pause after hearing Cranston was a “jointie” in the carnival.  I was a “ride jockey,” one of the lowlifes traveling with the show back in the late ‘70’s - ran away and joined when I was 16.  His descriptions and slang are right on the money.  Back to the podcast…

As far as I’m concerned, this is one of the best episodes of WTF so far. There are no bad WTF’s in my opinion. But still…

Love Breaking Bad and love Bryan Cranston - the episode of Malcolm in the Middle when he regresses back to a teenager after his wife goes away for a few days - absolute genius comedy . . . . great interview Marc!

johnathan October 07, 2011 at 9:26 am

Bryan Cranston????? POW!  I just came in my pants!

Catseye October 07, 2011 at 11:17 am

Bryan Cranstan isn’t just a gifted actor, he’s also seems to really have it together and to be a grown-ass man, something I can’t say about a lot of the people you have on the show.  Just an amazing interview.

Danny V from Albuquerque October 07, 2011 at 6:47 pm

great show, but you didn’t ask any questions about shooting in Albuquerque, and you are a native?
what do you think the final shot will be?
the mediallan Gus left with the old man, the tracking device his brother in law left on Walters car?
cant wait till sunday

Justin October 08, 2011 at 12:20 am

Maybe my favourite WTF episode yet! The Cranston rules. I do wish they would write him some dialogue in Breaking Bad (besides getting him to look angry for long periods of time) and the guys resume is pure gold.
Some of the greatest Seinfeld episodes “..no, I’m offended as a comedian” and was solid gold in Malcolm and then Breaking Bad.

Marc, second well-adjusted, genuinely nice guy, socially responsible actors this week and still no anger, contempt or determination to find out what is wrong with them? Marc what is wrong with you??
Or maybe I should ask - WTF is so right about you this week???  Great STUFF!!!

Karen October 08, 2011 at 2:08 am

Breaking Bad is one of my favorite shows on TV (especially nowadays). Along with Walking Dead and True Blood (ya, ya, I know). Bryan Cranston is awesome and so are you, Marc! I want to see more pictures of these kitty cats, too.

Michael Taylor October 08, 2011 at 6:38 pm

Loved this interview.  I got hooked on “Breaking Bad’ thirty seconds into the pilot episode, and have been addicted ever since.  Cranston is amazing.  Great show, great interview.  Thanks!

Diane Willis October 09, 2011 at 6:55 am

I was so glad you had Bryan Cranston as a guest. I have been addicted to Breaking Bad since the pilot and it has become one of my favorite TV shows. You have had some amazing guests on the show and I can’t wait to see who else you interview.

Beelzebud October 09, 2011 at 8:31 pm

Was cool to hear him mention the X-Files episode he was in, as it’s always been one of my favorites.  Great interview.  I’m about to die waiting to see the season finale tonight!

Trish November 23, 2011 at 4:38 pm
