Greenberg is one of my favorite movies, watched it in the Cinemas here in Australia as your WTF with Ben Stiller really spoke to me. Baumbach has been on my mind lately so this episode is a real treat.

This fuckin guy resists for like 45 minutes of talking influences and career beginnings before even one mention of Whit Stillman and even then is totally reluctant and gives this evasive “Yeah my friend told me about it in college I may have seen it who can really remember…..” shit as if he’d ever done Kicking and Screaming or the two that followed it without the glaring existence of Metropolitan….this guy had no potent or interesting stories to tell and yet still completely omits “Highball” and his troubles with it from the conversation. My advice?? SKIP this episode and take that time saved to watch Whit’s 2012 combeback “Damsels in Distress”....it’s a triumph!!

If you really want to interview more directors, can I suggest Lynn Shelton? She’s worked with your friend Mark Duplass, loves the tense, awkward moment, and has a new flick out at the end of the summer: http://www.vulture.com/2013/01/lynn-shelton-sundance-touchy-feely-interview.html. I’m kind of obsessed with her, and you will be, too.
