Mildew fingers can’t be easily fixed, but they can be *prevented* - get a small dish, put a little water in it, put the sponge in the water, and then microwave it for like 30-60 seconds; the water will boil, the sponge will steam-clean, and any living thing - mold, mildew, bacteria, whatever - will be destroyed and your sponge won’t smell like wet rotting hate.
