Fun show.  You should get Bobcat on for the hour, he’s had a fascinating career and is funnier than ever…

Pat February 10, 2011 at 4:05 pm

Bobcat is hysterical! He is so much funnier without the “voice”

jamison February 10, 2011 at 5:10 pm

totally got the Little Big Man ref.—almost shitty myself

exitBxC February 10, 2011 at 6:19 pm

the “fist bump” joke works really well in an audio format.

daveB from Oakland February 10, 2011 at 7:41 pm

It’s inspiring how Bobcat’s been able to transcend the earlier part of his career and assert a version of himself that seems to be a lot more ... himself. And Maria’s always good. Looking forward to this show, getting ready to listen right now.

Francisco February 10, 2011 at 8:51 pm

@exitBxC… I was at the taping. the fist bump was great. Because it was live you have to expect there to be a little something for the audience.

h benjamin February 10, 2011 at 8:59 pm

this has convinced me that B. Goldthwait deserves another look. Had thought he tipped the scale toward annoying and gimmicky in the past, but here he was funny and quick. I’ll be waiting to see if/how Jay Mohr responds.

matt February 10, 2011 at 9:24 pm

awesome show.

the audio was slightly off, though. there’s a weird buzz on the left audio channel.

exitBxC February 11, 2011 at 12:27 am

@Francisco…I know. I was just busting balls. It was a GREAT show from top to TOP. Everybody was really funny. And I must assume Marc is thinking, “man, Bob has to get a whole WTF to himself.” Again, great show, Marc. (and does my sycophantic praise merit me getting one more post?)

What the Proflowers deal fails to mention is that you have to pay $15 extra for guaranteed delivery on V-Day, and to get free shipping you have to sign up for some sketchy looking free shipping club. It wound up costing me almost $60. I can only hope that the 7-day freshness guarantee is legit. However, I still pulled the trigger since I love the podcast and want to support Marc. Great show as always.

Another great live show and Bobcat Goldthwait stole it. Like previous comments i think he should be top of the list for a sit down in the garage with Marc. It would be a fascinating interview for sure!

Great show! Every single guest had me rolling with laughter and the fan emails are.  In the future I’d love to see another W. Kamau Bell episode, more Bobcat, and CONAN O’BRIEN.

LIam February 11, 2011 at 12:10 pm

Bobcat was great! Really quick, good stories, right side of insanity. Him and Emo Phillips are two guys from my childhood that I adored but I wouldn’t think he could still go (In retrospect it’s a stupid thing to think considering I really like Bobcats films - Worlds Greatest Dad and Sleeping Dogs Lie).

CNA Training February 11, 2011 at 1:07 pm

Holy crap, Bobcat is really funny! Guess I shouldn’t have judged him just based on the bad movies he’s been in. You should definitely have him on for a one-on-one.

bill February 11, 2011 at 6:25 pm

Good episode. Maria Bamford is great. Just got into her, from the movie Comedians of Comedy tour. I’d love to hear her do her own show with you. B+ on the episode.

Cat_Admirer February 11, 2011 at 7:34 pm

Great letters and great panel, especially Maria. Bobcat’s spot reminded me of Tom Hanks doing a Gump line for James Lipton and then bragging “You just got Deniro to say ‘You talking to me’ ”—apparently oblivious to the fact that only by *not* saying the line would the comparison hold. Where did all the old Bobcat yowls and sellout talk come from? Was he just skittish about Marc leading the discussion into that area and so lurched the steering wheel himself? Just left me wondering where it came from. Still a nice appearance. Meanwhile WTF’s poor listenership, the large plebeian majority of it anyway, finally knows how Marc really thinks of them… “I work at a bank [and I don’t deserve love.]” Nice! (Now back to my eHarmony application….)

Awesome show, Marc. We need more Bobcat and more Maria. Maria is one of my favorite comics, and I used to love Bobcat when I was younger, and actually love him now more, without the voice! (though I kinda wanted a bit more of a taste ;D) Much love!

LM February 11, 2011 at 10:14 pm

I <3 Bob Goldthwait! Great line-up (was at the show, so listening to the podcast was more déjà entendu than déjà vu—but also, caught some things I’d missed cos of the laughter (Maria Bamford is very soft spoken AND hilarious, for instance), but Bob did steal the show.

I LOVED the negotiation of fucking: “How about ‘I would fuck you once, SPOON, and then make you a low-sodium breakfast.’ THAT might test my bonds of matrimony.”

We laughed about that for the rest of the night. That and the cat story.

Should have gone to the Storytelling show at the Purple Onion afterward. Argh, kicking myself.

LM February 11, 2011 at 10:20 pm

P.S. Will Franken is an amazing comedian — more performer than stand-up. Amazing character agility and smart humor. He sounded a bit uncomfortable one-to-one onstage, but his shows are truly entertaining.

Been listening to more and more of your podcasts. And lately I’ve been scrolling through your archives to find more names I recognize. A big fan of Louis CK and was thrilled to listen to that one. Great interview. Just listened to part 1 and will be listening to part 2 tomorrow. I think listening to your podcasts makes me a better person. There I said it. Sappy, but it’s true. Although the more podcasts I listen to the more I notice that you spend a lot of time apologizing for the past. Man, you must have been quite the prick in your day. lol Although you certainly don’t seem like that now. A little intense perhaps, but not a prick. The only problem now is that your podcast is yet another thing to distract me from my writing. Fucking internet.

Yo, is your proflowers offer still standing?  I’m not too interested in the flowers, but I am in the market for a free vase and chocolates.  If you are looking for a vase/chocolate dealer to move your inventory, get in touch.

G February 13, 2011 at 9:25 pm

Hahaha! Bobcat is awesome~

DICKM February 14, 2011 at 12:31 am

All great stuff.  I have listened to the Goldthwaite part three times now because I felt it was something special and it sure was.  Funny, funny guy!  Like said earlier here Im still laughing about the “Fuck you once, SPOON,  and then make me a low-sodiun breakfast. THAT might test my bonds of matrimony.”  Brilliantly funny.  And the Cat Schindler..  And when Marc talks about his Patch to compensate for his nicotine gum and Bobcat pipes in “And it’s true!” And the hard-on for the TSA and his daughter’s reaction - priceless.  Great wit and great timing.

This is in no way to take away from the others but to hear this from a guy who has been around like him just feels good.  All them should have their own visit to the Cat ranch - and I especially hope Bobcat does.

Great show, Bobcat is awesome!!!

I think “Bobcat” is the Anti-Gallagher. No doubt.

cindy February 14, 2011 at 3:00 pm

For all of you who thought Bobcat was only in crappy movies, check out “Shakes the Clown” It’s one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen and so sad that it gets overlooked.  Marc, if you have Bob on for the full hour I hope he gives that movie a mention- I mean, after all Robin Williams and Florence Henderson were in it! Florence plays an alcoholic mess who has a one night stand with a clown and Robin plays a mime.. think I’ll watch it again.

James February 17, 2011 at 3:54 am

Amazing.
Thanks Marc.
Bobcat is hilarious.

What’s with the 4 minute flower infomercial interruption in the middle? It wouldn’t be so bad if it was a short spot, but you just keep going on and on. Love the show, listen every week, but your sponsor mentions are getting longer and more annoying.
